About Ryan

I'm an early career cognitive scientist (PhD thesis currently under review), and consultant helping people navigate the evolving landscape of AI. I currently work in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland, where I combine research, teaching, and training to explore how people think — and how we can help them think better.
My work bridges cognitive science, learning design, and ethical AI, with a focus on fostering environments that support reflection, critical thinking, and informed decision-making. I'm especially passionate about teaching and public communication — I take pride in making complex ideas clear, engaging, and applicable, whether in the classroom, on stage, or in workplace training.
My doctoral research investigated how people reason about misleading information, drawing on concepts like intuition, analysis, cognitive reflection, and insight. Now, I’m extending that foundation through applied work: building tools, designing learning experiences, and leading training that helps people harness the power of cognitive science and AI in thoughtful, human-centered ways.
